On January 8, 2026, Jujutsu Kaisen’s third season made its first two-episode debut out of its planned 12 episode runthrough. According to anime streaming services, such as Crunchyroll, one episode is released every Thursday at 11:30 AM Eastern Standard Time.
Episode one begins by recapping the events of the Shibuya Massacre caused by the cursed spirit Sukuna. Meanwhile, Yuji Itadori must deal with the conflict of his execution set out by Jujutsu High, which has now been reinstated after Satoru Gojo, Yuji’s instructor had been sealed away and trapped by another cursed spirit by the name of Kenjaku, who had taken over the mind and body of Satoru’s high school friend, Suguru Geto who was a sorcerer known for his ability to trap and control cursed spirits by compressing and digesting their energy.
Season three goes to explain a ritual in the form of a survival game created by Kenjaku, known as the Culling Game where he used abilities gained by absorbing the cursed spirit, Mahito, where he could alter the thoughts of those in Japan. The game was used as an excuse to force human evolution, however, this is where Yuji, Megumi, and a previous character known as, Yuta Okkotsu step in, using the help of Kinji Hakari, and Kirara Hoshi, third-year students who had been suspended after assaulting a conservative higher-up member of Jujustu High, later involving themselves into a secret fighting club, which, according to the animators and creators was used to reference the 1999 film, Fight Club.
This group of sorcerers now must join the game in order to find a way to add a rule for others to have a choice to leave the game without being harmed or killed, tracking down players with an accumulative of 100 points, such ancient sorcerers Reggie Star, Ryu Ishigori, and Takako Uro, as well as modern sorcerers like laywer turned new sorcerer, Hiromi Higoruma and his shikigami Judgeman fighting them in a desperate attempt to convince them for their help to end the game.
As of March 26, 2026, Jujutsu Kaisen season three has reached its 12 episode long after releasing one episode each week, leaving off of a cliffhanger that is yet to be continued in season four.
