With the eight episode special known as The Chosen: Last Supper, or season five of the show many fans of the Biblical-drama series were left in awe of the events that occurred. When each episode finished production, they were put into movie theaters in order to give fans a more exciting experience. Each of the episodes were split into three different parts. Part one included episodes one and two, part two included episodes three through five, and the limited time movie experience came to a close after the release of part three, which included remaining episodes six through eight. The episodes were later released on Amazon Prime Video, giving at home access to fans that could not make it to the theaters.
For any fans that did get the pleasure to see the episodes in theaters, they were able to see the actors of The Chosen, including Jonathan Roumie (portraying Jesus), Shahar Isaac (Simon Peter), George Xanthis (Saint John), Luke Dimyan (Judas Iscariot), Joey Vahedi (Saint Thomas), Alaa Safi (Simon Z.), Amber Williams (Tamar), Elizabeth Tabish (Mary Magdalene), Noah James (Saint Andrew), and Andrew Allen (Pontious Pilate). Each of these wonderful actors did a preview before the movie stating the “Ten Theatrical Commandments.” which dramatically explained each of the rules that they wished the audience to follow during the movie to make it enjoyable for the rest of the audience.
As The Chosen continues filming for season six of their series, Director Dallas Jenkins has revealed that he will be working on extra projects including The Chosen Adventures, and the animated feature film David. As these three projects remain in development while The Chosen wraps up its series, Jenkins also reveals that more projects are still being developed alongside the other upcoming projects, such as Joseph of Egypt, a three-season spin off series involving Moses, and another spin off called The Way of The Chosen.
Jonathan Roumie revealed the difficulties of playing Jesus in season six during an interview; for Roumie, “The most challenging part of filming is the crucifixion. There’s no way to get around the difficulty of that on so many levels, and just trying to be ready for it and trying to, just empty myself. And allow the Lord to just be with me throughout the process.” Roumie has also stated in other interviews that this next season would be a lot more brutal and much more emotionally challenging for everyone, including the actors, who were shown on set of recording being comforted by Director Jenkins and each other, attempting to mentally prepare each other to watch and recreate the most important but formidable moments in all of Biblical adaptation history.
