Sophomore Tanya Maheshram is a Pre-IB student at Winter Springs High School, but more than that, she is a dedicated friend and great person. Any of her friends or family could tell you that Tanya makes days brighter and smiles bigger. Her smarts never outweigh her morals, always staying humble and kind.
Tanya displays the qualities of an exemplary student, focusing on her studies and studying at Kumon outside of school. With her Mu Alpha Theta group, she has won multiple competitions through dedication and commitment. Just a few weeks ago, she and her Precalculus team placed second in their competition. She dedicates time to focus on her studies, however, more than that, she spends her time doing what she loves.
On weekends, Tanya goes to Bharatanatyam practice, a type of South Indian classical dance that has been performed for over 2,000 years. As well as dance practice, she plays the piano, both of which Tanya has practiced and learned for seven years now. She is a part of the WSHS Baker Bears club along with her Mu Alpha Theta and IB Club. Tanya enjoys these clubs not only for their focus, but the friends she spends them with.
With her family, Tanya loves the road trips and vacations they take. This school year, she has visited Texas to see family over winter break, and recently, Florida’s own St. Augustine for spring break. Some of Tanya’s other favorite vacations have been to New York and Washington DC, as well as Vermont where she notes the fun she had ice skating. Her time on road trips and at hotels make her break time feel extra special.
Tanya enjoys dramedy shows like Psych for its humor and High Potential, her favorite thing to watch comedy. Described by a friend, Junior Copy Editor, Alphonsa Thomas, Tanya is a “smiley” individual that makes days better. Her friends and family know how special she is because of what a good person she is. She makes days better, always making the people around her happier. Motivated by those she cares for, Tanya Maheshram sees the beauty in everyday life. She is not sure where the future is to take her, but it is clear that she will make it, wherever she chooses to go.
