Monday of homecoming week Winter Springs High School PTSA held a dodgeball tournament on campus. The warm fall evening helped set the mood along with the overpouring excitement spilling from the parking lot and into the gym from parents, students, teachers, and
the eager teammates. Student Government representatives showed school spirit and contributed to the homecoming spirit dress-up days, rocking bikini tops over t-shirts in honor of Beach Day. While the teams were warming up, friends and other supporters were entering the gym with handmade signs sporting the names and faces of their favorite players to cheer on their fellow classmates. This included a poster made by Mr. Johnson with the infamous “ratcat” as well as a huge photo of senior Adison Pierce’s face. Students on the teams came up with names to represent themselves. Some names they came up with for reference were “Tighty Whiteys,” “Ballz,” and “Dodging Divas” that made the audience giggle while other teams went for more intimidating names such as “The Untouchables,” “Softball Slingers,” and “Treble Makers.” As always the iconic Bruce the Bear made an appearance and cheered each team on alongside referees Dr. Brace and Mr. Taylor.
