Ms. Dubois is a current teacher at Winter Springs High School, teaching United States History. She has been teaching for six years now, always wanting to teach U.S. history in some capacity. Teaching APUSH (short for AP US History) for five years, which easily became one of her favorite classes to teach. During this time she has had many experiences within the teaching community. When asked what her most memorable experience during her teaching career was, she said it was, “Getting a Bjorn nomination for favorite teacher from the 24-25 senior class. Even though I didn’t win, it was so nice being recognized for the work and relationships I built with my students.”
Her favorite thing about teaching is being able to get to know and be involved in the lives of all her students and watch them grow and change over the year she has them. A Winter Springs alumnus herself, when she was a high school student herself she was inspired by her amazing teachers, Mr. Oettl, Mr. French, Dr. Register, Mrs. Krausman, and Mr. Erickson, just to name a few. Now, she is able to teach at the same school as some of her favorite past teachers. When asked how it has been coming back to teaching after having her baby and going on maternity leave she responded, “It has given me a deeper appreciation for my job, and has made me want to push my students even harder to succeed, because I would want Bennett’s teachers to do the same for him one day.”
Just as any teacher, Mrs. Dubois has her own struggles in the classroom, her biggest challenge being finding ways to accommodate all types of learners so that everyone has an equitable learning experience in her classroom. Which she does a wonderful job of doing each and every day for all of her students. Truly, Ms. Dubois is an amazing teacher that exemplifies the Winter Springs High School bear spirit.
