On February 26, 2025, Co-op Horror had taken a turn towards humor as the popular robotic horror game R.E.P.O was released to the popular game engine Steam as well as the Google Play Store, where the game received up to a 10 out of 10 rating on Steam. This virtual mix of horror and humor first became popular through Tiktok where users such as, @Just.CSmallz, a small streamer and content creator released a video of him singing the song “Chest Pain (I Love)” written by singer Malcolm Todd which had gained him over 15 Million views, 2.1 Million likes, and over 158k followers on Tiktok and 1.6k on Twitch.
This new Co-op game seemed to have replaced the original co-op horror game known as Lethal Company. Lethal Company, released nearly 2 years prior on October 23, 2023 had slowed its production four months after its last update, after R.E.P.O had been developed. Both games have very similar concepts to each other, from running around as similar looking characters using proximity chat, to collecting objects for money, to getting chased around and scared by weird looking creatures.
Users have been laughing online constantly from the amount of funny videos and other content published about R.E.P.O, more popular videos emerged such as user @Sle3pyboi running at one of the monsters while blaring the song “Change” featured in Steven Universe The Movie. And others become popular from smaller clips of them doing funny and ridiculous things.
