Ashlyn Shephard is a third-year flute player in the WSHS Band of Gold. Along with being a member of the WSHS marching band, she has made it into both the All-County band and Florida All-State Band for the first time. Shephard said that “It was an amazing experience, unlike anything I’ve done before.” She also said that she has met so many great musicians there that have motivated her to keep playing the flute. Shephard definitely wants to continue pursuing music in college even though it is not her main major. She is currently looking for music scholarships and hopes to get into UCF. Shephard says that being a part of the Band of Gold is an honor and that she has met so many great people who have encouraged her to become a better musician and person. Shepherd enjoys playing the flute because of the joy she gets from it. Shepard hopes that everything will go back to normal soon and wishes for everyone to stay safe and healthy.
