Making her return to the public, former Vice President Kamala Harris delivers a public speech at the Emerge gala, in San Francisco, on April 30, 2025. Former Vice President Harris spoke for just over 15 minutes to address what has gone on since she had left office and had handed over presidency to Donald Trump, after 100 days of Trump’s second term, stated “Instead of an administration working to advance America’s highest ideals, we are witnessing the wholesale abandonment of those ideals,” summarizing that America was on the edge of a constitutional crisis with the current economy and the constant abandonment of world allies.

Kamala went on to explain that only after 100 days in office, President Trump had created the “greatest man-made economic crisis in modern presidential history.” Harris also went on to honor the Democrats by electing more Democratic women in California politics. She continued her message by saying that people should rebuke Trump and band together in resisting the administration’s policies, naming those in the government who had expressed their rebuke on Trump, such as, Senator Cory Booker and Bernie Sanders, as well as Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Kamala also proceeded the 15 minute speech with a mention of Trump’s “reckless tariffs” which had led to the higher pricing on everyday essential items and products, devastating things such as bank accounts that citizens had been saving for a lifetime for retirement, as well as slowing down, or stopping the growth of big and small businesses.
