On April 5, the Winter Springs High School prom commenced at SeaWorld, Orlando. Excitement arised from the Beauty and Beast prom theme, inspiring outfits worn at prom. The prom theme led to rose decorations adorning the venue and a Beauty and the Beast inspired photo booth. Asia Green, a senior, commented, “At prom, it was AMAZING, especially when you’re next to Seaworld too! The music and setting sure know how to make everything pop.” Along with the decorations, refreshments and music were offered. The following artists were played: Sexxy Red, Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, etc. Alexandria Singleton, a junior, uttered, “The music was really nice; there were a lot of different options.” Green’s favorite songs played included: Bow Bow, Get It Sexyy, and Streets. Evidently, this was seen via the different types of dancing performed: slow dance, contemporary dancing, and suggestive dancing.
Turning to the food courses, mac and cheese bites, chicken tenders, and mash potatoes were served. Additionally, water, fruit punch, and lemonade quenched the throats of students, after dancing. This led to an overwhelming positive experience at prom. Danielle Young, a junior, stated, “Prom was a ton of fun, and I loved getting to listen and dance to the music while spending time with my friends.”
After the main courses were served, the prom queen and king were announced. Hundreds of Winter Springs High School huddled together in anticipation for the reveal of the winners. Female Nominees included Ayanna Crag- Chaderton, Bella Russolesse, Marley Ramos, and Cianni Sepulveda; male nominees were Ben Medeiros, Aiden Wenger, Lian Edwards, and Tyler Allo. Fittingly, Be Our Guest was played as each nominee walked through the ballroom, as their name was announced. Following minutes of anticipation, Ben Medeiros and Ayanna Crag- Chaderton were announced as prom king and queen. The prom king and queen danced, along with the nominees and their respective partners. In a romantic fashion, Tale as Old as Time was played through the slow dance.
Once the slow dance ended; seniors and juniors returned to partying. The prom ended at 11pm. Based on results of a survey conducted on Instagram, 63 percent of respondents reported enjoying the prom. Overall, prom was a delight for all!
