The 2019 manhwa (a comic made in Korea) series Save Me on Webtoon, a digital comic website, left fans longing for more after their emotional trip through a storyline in which a time traveler attempts to save his friends from their detrimental future. This comic featured the seven members of BTS as characters that represented part of the lore that is hinted at in some of their music videos such as I NEED U, Run, and Spring Day to name a few. Now, about three years later, a completely different story has emerged with the same BTS members but as new characters. The new series 7 Fates: CHAKHO was announced November 3 and scheduled to release on January 15. This Webtoon was created by Naver, a South Korean search engine, who collaborated with HYBE Labels (formerly known as Big Hit Entertainment).

While waiting for the release, Webtoon posted several short teaser videos featuring each character. These videos showed the story taking place in a futuristic world as it starts off with a wanted poster of the seven boys stating that they are pretending to be human. Along with videos, the company also released photo teasers as well that included limited edition photo cards of BTS in which fans can collect.

The title of the comic has left some wondering what it means. The name entails that the seven characters will be “fated” to defeat monsters and defend the world that they live in. The name “Chakho” is directly related to the traditional Korean stories of “Chakhogapsa.” These are tiger hunters of the Joseon Dynasty. During this time, tigers roamed the peninsula and would viciously attack civilians. Thus, groups of hunters were formed to prevent and put a stop to this problem. After its first release, new episodes will come out each week on Saturdays. It is unknown how long the series is, but their previous one contained 16 total episodes. This new release is a must-read for any BTS fan.
