On June 23, 1991, Sonic the Hedgehog stepped onto the video game scene in the platformer Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis. Since then, the blue blur has raced into the hearts of millions and is the star of many video games, TV shows, and merchandise. At the moment, the sequel titled Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is expected to speed onto the big screens on April 8. As confirmed by the trailer and studio, the classic characters Tails the fox and Knuckles the echidna will be starring alongside the blue hedgehog. However, Knuckles, voiced by Idris Elba, will be a villain who works alongside the franchise’s main villain, Dr. Eggman, unlike in most Sonic the Hedgehog media. With more and more details being released many Sonic the Hedgehog fans are making their voices heard on social media platform Reddit. Through their posts, users are requesting that the sequel include Sonic’s alternate form Super Sonic and Dr. Eggman’s robot creation Metal Sonic, whose inclusion is already being hinted at by. They also hope for more of the original games’ music, the iconic location Casino Night Zone, and for the film to be followed up with an R-rated movie starring the iconic character Shadow. According to Screen Rant, “…a Shadow movie isn’t too outside of the realm of possibility, as many fans of Sonic are in their 20s and 30s.”

Many fans are confident that Sonic and his friends will once again race to the top of the box office and into their hearts, regardless of what happens in this much-anticipated sequel.
