Freshman tries new sport

Sara Gardener, a freshman, is a defense player on the JV lacrosse team. Gardener was also a defense specialist while on the JV volleyball team. She explained, “I wanted to try something new and stay active outside of the volleyball season.” Both sports require hand eye coordination; however, the playing space is different. “There are only six girls on the court, but 10 players on the field. It’s easier with more people, but the Florida heat can sometimes make it difficult,” Gardener explained. The lacrosse team is like family. “We’re close like sisters. We have our moments, but what team doesn’t?” Gardener laughed. She loves her amazing team and how they’re all learning together. Gardener closed by saying: “[Everyone should] come play next year; it’s a great experience.”
