The hit movie series that dated back in 2013 starring Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson as the main cast. The movie Now You See Me garnered over 350 million with a 75 million dollar budget and it gained a good amount of positive reviews, which was greenlit into a sequel created in 2016 that didn’t get much success as the first, but was still an amazing film that was loved by fans and hated by critics.
The movies’ plot is about magicians who are called the four horsemen, and they work together to either stop powerful criminals or to have big heists in which their magic looks so real fans don’t know if the magic in the movies is actually magic, cleverly orchestrated by Louis Leterrier with good stunts that he gives to the actors, and this helped spark many people to be interested in magic and magicians because of how well the first movie succeeded.
The second movie, directed by Jon M. Chu was well received by audiences with a 4.4 out of 5 in the audience score but a critic score of 34 percent on rotten tomatoes didn’t allow a new film to come out ever since. Now it’s been 9 years and now a new film is coming out in theatres on November 14th of this year, sparking many fans of the franchise to be stoked. Fellow staff reporter Margo Bates is one of those people.
However some of the challenges that this new movie might encounter are, generation, critics, and if its able to rack in a profit, the movie is coming out at a time where people might not care for magicians in a movie and especially during a time where critics are very harsh about movies so if all of these challenges are thought through Now you See Me: Now You Don’t has potential to be movie of the year.
