The Winter Springs High School Varsity softball team ended their prosperous 2024-2025 season with a state championship run, resulting in another state title for the bears. On May 24, 2025 the varsity bears took on the Niceville Eagles for the 5a state title, and came out victorious. This wasn’t just an ordinary matchup, in fact it was quite personal for WSHS. During the previous season (2023-2024), the Niceville Eagles defeated the Bears in regionals ending their state title run. However, this year despite the official FHSAA score predictions being against the Winter Springs softball squad, they were able to clinch the title with a 4-3 win over Niceville High School. This was the first state championship title for the softball team since 2019, and the first state championship title for Head Coach Farrah Gordon. Prior to the state championship the Bears had an outstanding 23-8 record along with winning the district, and regional championship.
Being a spring sport and having to navigate the end of the school year, events, and a competitive schedule can be discouraging for most, however the softball team was able to stay positive with one small quote, “Remember the Goal.” The team found this quote on a small note card left for them following the Morgan’s Message softball game; that small note left a big impact on the team. To them, it meant sticking together and staying focused on the end goal which was winning the state championship. By using this quote they were able to block out small obstacles and only focus on the big picture. This quote was so monumental for the softball program as a whole that it was engraved on the inside of their state championship rings. Ultimately this strategy worked for the Bears as they accomplished their goal and brought another state title back to the den.
