It Ends With Us- Book Review

Bella Cuellar, Staff reporter

It Ends With Us was released August 2, 2016, written by award winning author Colleen Hoover. The main character Lily Bloom is a hard working, strong, selfless person who hasn’t always had it easy. Lily will never let go of her dreams, so she moves to Boston after graduating and meets a handsome neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid and her best friend Alyssa. Soon enough everything in Lily’s life feels complete; now she has everything she’s ever wanted.

Alyssa is the best friend someone could have. She will put loved ones before herself no matter what. Alyssa has a very uplifting supportive attitude and she has always taken care of Lily even if her own brother was the only one destroying her. Next Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He is very successful as he is the top neurosurgeon in Boston. Ryle always seemed like the perfect guy for Lily; he was the chase she didn’t know she was looking for until everything took a turn. Just as everything in her life was slowly falling apart she came in contact with her first love Atlas. He was always very protective over Lily and her safety. Atlas is a generous, kind hearted man. Lastly, Andrew Bloom is Lily’s dad who genuinely is everything a husband or father figure should not be like. He constantly disappoints Lily as a father and quickly becomes her number one most hated.

This novel is bold and deeply personal, Colleen Hoover provides a surreal story that breaks a unbelivable new ground for her as a writer. One of the main reasons It Ends With Us has a 4.8\5 rated book is because of the way the author thoroughly provides a background story on each of the characters’ pasts and real experiences.

Colleen Hoover has had 11 of her novels reach the New York Times Bestseller List, with It Ends With Us and Hopeless reaching the number one spot. She has also won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Romance three years in a row for Confess (2015), It Ends with Us (2016), and Without Merit (2017). Majority of her profits are given to various charities each month to help those in need.
