Young and Successful Disney Channel Star rises up in popularity

At exactly 10:40 p.m. on September 20 2021, Zendaya won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress as Rue Bennet in the rising teen drama television show Euphoria. Not only is Zendaya an outstanding actress, but she is also the youngest actor to win an emmy. In addition to being the youngest actor to win this award, she is also the second black woman to receive an emmy. This award is prestigious to Zendaya and could help her launch her future long lasting career in acting.

The public has posted Zendaya’s reaction to winning the Emmy all over social media and Youtube. When winning the Emmy, Zendaya was surrounded by her loving friends and family. During her acceptance speech, she said, “My heart is just overflowing with love and gratitude.” She also emphasized her goal to spread hope to the younger generation and how her acting career has impacted her life. She also reflected on what the award meant to her and her family, and how this would change everything in her life.

Zendaya first started her acting career on the popular Disney channel show Shake it Up, which is about two enthusiastic best friends CeCe Jones (Bella Thorne) and Rocky Blue (Zendaya) who follow their dreams of becoming professional dancers after they get chosen as backup dancers on a local show. In addition to appearing on Shake it Up, Zendaya won second place for the 16th season of Dancing with the Stars. The public has stated that they enjoyed The Greatest Showman  because of Zendaya’s exceptional acting and singing. Her song with Zac Efron, Rewrite the Stars, is a rising and popular hit song with over a million views. Along with her acting career, she has worked on empowering young girls and fighting racial stereotypes. After being accepted for a Covergirl Contract, Zendaya stated that she wants to “work alongside CoverGirl to continue empowering girls and women to celebrate their individuality.”
