As if 2020 couldn’t get worse by the deaths of many important celebrities, this past August 28, the actor known mostly for starring in the Marvel movie Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman, died at age 43 of colon cancer. Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016; he and his family had decided to keep the situation private and not in the public eye. Black Panther was released in 2018 while Boseman was going through chemotherapy. He also had many surgeries during the filming, but pulled through and finished the movie. Some reviewers said that his performance was amazing.

Besides Black Panther, Boseman had appeared in other Marvel movies. He also performed in non-Marvel movies. Boseman starred in the baseball movie 42, based on the life of famous player Jackie Robinson.

Many of his coworkers and other well known people showed their respects on social media. Chris Evans, Captain America, said “A true original. He was a deeply committed and constantly curious artist. He had so much amazing work still left to create.”

One major concern with his untimely death is what is going to happen with the next Black Panther movie which is expected to start filming in March 2021 and released in 2022. There is still no answer regarding what is going to happen, but there is some speculation that his sister is becoming the next defender of Wakanda. However, nothing is official yet except that the sequel will include the same director and writer, Ryan Clooger.
