On November 6, 2023, The Dog Film Festival was held. This day was established to show gratitude towards people’s very own furry buddies on how they both are cherished and loved across the globe through the likes of short films.
But how did this day get to a point where it’s an official event? Why don’t you try to backtrack a few steps in history to the year 1888, where, according to Nationaltoday.com, French artist and inventor Louis Le Prince had just recently accomplished the ability of being able to take motion pictures which will be known today as videos., Then years later during the 1910’s, for the first time ever a dog would come to be known as Jean, has starred in 25 silent films and had become the first ever “American Dog Movie Star.” This has then caused a whole new trend of other dogs becoming movie stars themselves just right after 1916. Then the evolution of motion pictures accelerated after a couple of years of the video camera being invented. By 1914, voice synchronized films had then begun to be created which had now granted the ability for people to have dialogue in motion pictures instead of simple intertitles with the captions of what the characters are saying, according to National Today.
Now back in the Year of 2015, a grand event has been announced the same day today somewhere in New York, where it’s now known as the “Dog Film Festival.” This festival was started by Tracie Hotchner from the simple idea of filming short movies that star other people’s dogs. The chosen filmmakers will be receiving a wide amount of gifts that are stated to be “a limited edition t-shirt, a VIP doggy “sWag” gift bag and two tickets (or more if requested) to the NYC showing” as stated from the Official “NY Dogs film festival” account. In conclusion, this festival is just simply something wonderful and fun for both pet owners and their own fluffy buddies to enjoy and celebrate that you cannot miss!
