William Montgomerie is a freshman student with a dedication to playing soccer this school year. Montgomerie states that his love for soccer started when he was just four years old playing for Class Athlete here in the Winter Springs area and he’s loved the sport ever since. From his point of view, not only is soccer a fun sport, it’s also a relaxing way to escape stress and keep his mind off things for long periods of time. No matter if it’s a practice or a game, he’s able to stay away from stress and anxiety.
When asked who inspired him, Montgomerie said, “[Christiano] Ronaldo because I’ve watched him since I was young and Ronaldo inspired me to work and never give up.” On top of being inspired by Ronaldo, he also enjoys watching La Liga soccer team Real Madrid and he’s watched them since his early youth, especially since his inspiration was playing for them for several years.
Montgomerie said that if he could say something to his past self, he would say to always work hard and trust the process. Montgomerie hopes to play right back for the Winter Springs Bears Junior Varsity Team this winter and continue to develop his love for the game he loves so dearly.
