Whales are living in this world, with their mysterious movements through the ocean. Whales such as baleen whales and humpback whales which has made curious scientists seeing that whale songs was first to be seen than 50 years. Toothed whales are developing a vocal organ to produce sound, the baleen whales was believed to have a voice box in their throats.
Researchers was able to research a sei whale, humpback whale and a minke whale, after they died in 2018 and 2019 and Scientists have also created computer models of whale voices that could not previously be measured in the lab, such as production sound. Since the ocean is dark to see, which allows whales to use sound to create low-frequency sounds underwater to communicate over long distance and it helps whales to find each other
Coen Elemans, a professor of bioacoustics at the University of Southern Denmark states that “They’re like the biggest creatures that ever roamed this planet. They’re super intelligent, they’re very vocal, they’re very social. And as for those animals, we now know how they’ve been able so successfully to communicate with each other on the water. And this evolution probably like 40 millions years ago allowed the whales today to be successful.” But whales have limits as well, Baleen whales are able to make sounds from the water’s surface to a depth around 328 ft.
That is because whales cannot be far from the ocean surface since they need air to breathe to produce their sounds. Studies show that the frequency overlaps with noises mostly made by human-made vessels, which is 30 to 300 near the ocean and it causes to mask whale communication. She said that “We really have to change the noise we make, the type we make, when we make it, where we make it. And we hope that this study can help to . . . mitigate the noise we make.” One student says it is awesome.
