Carmelo Oquendo is a student who has recently joined Bear Truth News, eager to contribute his point of view and skills. Originally from the island of Puerto Rico, Carmelo brings with him a rich background full of culture that influences many parts of his life.
He is not only a writer for Winter Springs, but also an aspiring athlete joining our school’s swim team. Carmelo’s passion for swimming reflects his discipline, a quality he hopes to bring to his other life goals. In addition to swimming, one of Carmelo’s favorite hobbies is boxing, a sport he enjoys frequently, finding mental focus and physical challenge in the ring.
Outside of his athletic and writing aspirations, Carmelo dreams of exploring the world, with his dream vacation being a tour of Canada, a country he hopes to visit at least once.This dream of his highlights his need to discover new cultures and landscapes. Carmelo also enjoys reading, with the last book he read being one of the Percy Jackson books by author Rick Riordan. This series captivates Carmelo’s interest in mythology and literature of all sorts. Carmelo is overall a well rounded student with many goals he wishes to achieve.
