Since their debut in 2006 at the Grand Olympic Auditorium, K-pop group BIGBANG has had a steady rise of fame with worldwide listeners. Their numbers are almost beyond 15 million listeners on YouTube and over 8 million on Spotify.
Years later, due to controversies with members of the K-pop group, Lee Seung-Hyun (also known as Seungri) took a leave of absence from the five member group after being involved with drama related to a group known as the Burning Sun. After this once favorite member had been forced to leave, the remaining artists G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P, and Daesung continued to carry on the well known legacy of the boy band.
For nearly ten years the band had fallen almost completely silent to the public, only releasing songs and albums without performing. However, one day, at the MAMA Award ceremony on November 23, 2024, in Osaka, Japan, the crowd boomed into cheers as the opening of BIGBANG’s hit song “BANG BANG BANG” played throughout the stadium. As the next song “Fantastic Baby” played, the names of the remaining BIGBANG members blared across the screen, showing that they had finally returned to the public.
As BIGBANG played throughout the stadium, it left other popular K-pop groups like Stray Kids, Seventeen, and NewJeans absolutely speechless as each of them also began dancing, cheering, and singing along. As they moved to perform “Fantastic Baby” many fans realized that they had kept the vocals of T.O.P in the song, showing respect for their amazing main rapper of the group who had announced his resignation from the group in the year 2021. After their long awaited return, many people around social media, including fans and other K-pop stars have welcomed them back and shown their appreciation for the group.
