On February 9, 2025, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl 59 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Eagles completely dominated throughout the game, leaving the Chiefs with little opportunity to recover. The game kicked off at 6:30 P.M., and the Eagles had control from the get go. On their second possession of the game, Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts ran into the endzone from one yard out to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead.
The Eagles defense completely dominated the first-quarter, preventing the defending champion Chiefs from scoring. However, it seemed that Kansas City could swing the momentum back in their favor, after Jalen Hurts threw an interception in the red zone. Unbeknownst to the Chiefs, this would be the last swing of momentum in their favor, as after a punt for Kansas City, the Philadelphia Eagles would score 17 more points heading into halftime, including a pick-six from Eagles rookie CB Cooper DeJean, leaving the score 24-0 Eagles.
At halftime, Kendrick Lamar put out a fantastic performance, playing hits such as “TV Off,” “HUMBLE.,” and the infamous diss track “Not Like Us,” exciting audiences around the country.
After halftime, the situation would not improve for the Kansas City Chiefs, as the Eagles would go up a staggering 34-0 after a deep 46-yard bomb to Eagles WR DeVonta Smith. Although Kansas City would score six points before the end of the quarter, there was no recovery for the reigning two-time champion team. Despite a pair of late Kansas City touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the game was already out of reach. At the final whistle, the green and white confetti was unleashed from the rafters, as the Philadelphia Eagles celebrated their 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. This marks Philadelphia’s second Super Bowl in seven years. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts was named Super Bowl MVP, after an impressive two touchdown performance. For the Chiefs, this marked an end to a tremendous Super Bowl run, in which the team hoped to become the first team to win three straight Super Bowls. Despite this, the Philadelphia Eagles prevailed, bringing joy to the entire fanbase.
