On November 2, queer pop sensation Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, professionally known as Chappell Roan, made her long awaited SNL debut. The singer performed her hit song “Pink Pony Club” in addition to her new, unreleased country track “The Giver (She Gets the Job Done).”
Several months ago, Chappell Roan took the music industry by storm when sleeper hits “HOT TO GO!” and “Good Luck, Babe!” went viral. Since her sudden rise to prominence, the singer has performed at sold-out shows nationwide and received six Grammy award nominations.
Amstutz debuted in 2017 with her indie EP School Nights, and continued to explore the alternative genre until 2022, with the release of “Pink Pony Club.” Since then, she has released semi-autobiographical pop songs primarily detailing her love life and experiences growing up as a lesbian.
Recently, on October 21, Chappell Roan’s co-writer and producer Daniel Nigro revealed that the two were working on a second LP, the heavily anticipated successor to her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (2023).
Nigro confirmed that five new tracks have already been recorded, including a country song, several ballads, and a mid-tempo rock song (via Billboard). The album is also set to include her unreleased song “The Subway,” which she debuted at the Governors Ball Music Festival earlier this year and has been performing ever since.
Fans were delighted to hear a sneak peak of the new album on SNL, as many suspect that “The Giver (She Gets the Job Done)” is the country song Nigro previously mentioned. Though there is no confirmed release date, fans can tune in to Chappell’s Instagram to look out for more hints regarding her sophomore album.
Fans excitedly await Chappell Roan’s first release in months; no matter which creative direction she decides to pursue, Amstutz is sure to continue to empower listeners with her work.
