Veteran teacher Karnitz has been teaching at Winter Springs High School for a decade. He teaches an array of subjects such as AP World, AP Art History, and IB Anthropology. He commences his classes by greeting everyone with a smile and then starts lecturing. Depending on the subject, lectures can range from learning about World War II, the Song Dynasty, or alligator hunting. His favorite art pieces are the Stonehenge and the Venus of Willendorf. Specifically, he states the following: “It’s a tie between Venus of Willendorf and Stonehenge. Stonehenge feels magical to me.” However, when it comes to modern art his favorite art piece is “Red Trees on Black,” by Robert Cook.
Concerning his other interests, his favorite book series is The Bazil Broketail by Christopher Rowley: a series about dragons and adventures that the dragon rider goes through. In addition, he admires the work of Tolkien; specifically, he admires the world that Tolkien has created.
Previously, he worked in a zoo with alligators and wrestled against them for entertainment. As an animal lover and sports enthusiast, he participates in the sport of falconry and owns a falcon who visits him daily; in addition to this, he owns two bunnies. His two bunnies are trained and can do tricks, such as rollover or jump up to receive treats. Additionally, his favorite animal is a T-Rex from the Jurassic Park movies, and his favorite fictional archaeologist is Indiana Jones- despite it not being historically accurate.
Turning to hobbies, his most treasured video game is the Original Diablo from 1996, and is unwilling to negotiate on that fact. Interestingly, he is a coffee fanatic and even has a special coffee mug. To be more specific, it is an old original coffee mug with a traditional lid on it. Concerning old memories, his preferred lie is that the “Concrete Alligator on 50 in Christmas was real and it was stuffed.” All in all, whether it be art pieces, books, or animals Karnitz is interested in it all.
