Madison “Maddie” Coates is a sophomore at Winter Springs High School just transferred from Lake Mary High School. Maddison is starting the Newspaper here at The Bear Truth and someday hopes to work at the Yale Daily News and get a Journalism degree while there. Coates was born in Germany when her father was in the Army. She grew up in North Carolina before moving to Florida in 2018. Coates enjoys writing stories and articles, reading and writing poems, and studying different fashion trends. She enjoys listening to 70s and 80s music, such as the band Queen and rockstar Elvis Presley. Another favorite activity of hers is watching romance movies. She loves when the temperature drops and it begins to snow. Her favorite holidays are Christmas and Halloween. She is a fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. Coates looks up to her parents for inspiration or when she needs help. Coates loves Photography because “it brings out details people don’t catch with their eye.” Maddison’s biggest pet peeve is those who judge others for how they look and what they wear. One piece of advice she has is “Don’t be scared to be who you are.”
