The NFL playoff divisionals have just concluded during the weekend of January 20. The games played were the result of the endings of the NFL wildcard games. On Saturday, January 20, the San Francisco 49ers (1) played the Green Bay Packers (7), and the winner of this game will move on to the NFC Championship. Jordan Love, the Green Bay QB, and the Packers were coming off an upset win in Dallas and wished to upset yet another top team. Brock Purdy, San Francisco QB, and the 49ers were looking to secure their spot in their 19 NFC championship game. While it would have been a Cinderella story for the Green Bay Packers (7) to win, the 49ers (1) were able to pull off a win with a final score of 21-24.
The second game to take place on January 20 featured the Baltimore Ravens (1), defending home field against the Houston Texans (4). The Texans (4) stuck with the Ravens (1) until halftime, with the score tied at 10-10, but in the second half, the Texans (4) couldn’t keep up with this powerful Ravens team as the score would rest at 10-34 in favor of Baltimore (1).
The January 21 games kicked off with the Kansas City Chiefs (3) at the Buffalo Bills (2). Fans and critics expected this game to be the most competitive game of the NFL Divisional, featuring two Super Bowl favorites. The Bills (2) were favorites to the game’s conclusion but Kansas City, the defending Super Bowl champions, was able to win 21-23.
Following the Buffalo/Kansas City game’s conclusion, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4) would face off against the Detroit Lions (3) and would serve as the final game of the NFL Divisional Playoff. At halftime, the score once again rested at 10-10, however, the Lions were able to pull away, winning the game with a score of 23-31.
The final four teams of the NFL playoff include the Kansas City Chiefs, who will play the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship while the Detroit Lions will play the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship to play for a spot in the Super Bowl.
