In the far corner of campus outside Building 7, students can find Mr. Carter, many students have his class for English during their junior or senior year. Born in Southern California, Carter moved to Central Florida when he was 12. He taught at SSC for 15 years and is now working on a Ph.D along with writing some books. Carter went to Rollins College where he got his BA in English, minored in Economics and got his MA in Instructional Design and Technology from UCF where he’s attending now. Carter shares his love of literature through his teachings where he explains the beauty underneath the old words and phrases used in stories. Outside the classroom Carter enjoys playing the guitar and writing music but most of this time he spends being outdoors by going on hikes, camping, bushcrafting, and going on road trips. While most of his time is spent outdoors, Carter does enjoy reconnecting with his high school friends via Xbox Live. “I stay in contact with the crazy friends that I made in High School- most of whom live around the world now. Even though they are respected, grown-up professionals, we’ll log-in to Xbox live a few times a year just to remind Gen-Z which generation created the video game genre we play.”
