Janet Jackson is known for being a singer, songwriter, actress, and dancer. She has recently posted a teaser for her upcoming two-part documentary Janet which is set to be released in January 2022 in celebration of her 40th anniversary of her debut album. Telling viewers that “This is my story told by me, not through someone else’s eyes.”

Jackson shared a clip of the documentary on Instagram (@janetjackson) with the caption “Hey u guys. Excited to share the first teaser of my new documentary with you.” The documentary will take viewers through the life and career of Jackson along with some home videos and never-before-seen footage. In it musicians such as Paula Abdul and Mariah Carey make a few appearances and will talk about their relationship with Jackson. Members of the Jackson family will make their appearances including clips of Jackson with her late brother Micheal Jackson. 5 years in the making, this film has been capturing the moments of her career and her family’s life as they went through hardships with the loss of her father, Joseph in 2018. The documentary will also share footage of some of Jackson’s biggest moments in her singing career, even including her 2004 Super Bowl performance with Justin Timberlake that stirred up controversy that still stays with her to this day. 

The two-night documentary will air at the same time on Lifetime and A&E. Janet is executive produced by Janet Jackson herself along with Randy Jackson.
