Chef Dane Brevoort is a culinary teacher at WSHS. This year, Brevoort teaches Culinary 1. The course is an introduction to the culinary arts. Students learn industry sanitation standards, culinary terms, and basic cooking skills (including reading and converting recipes). Brevoort’s favorite thing about teaching is imparting the knowledge that he has learned during his culinary career to young cooks. Chef Brevoort said, ”Students should take my class if they want to learn about the culinary industry and what it takes to be a chef. Also, you get to eat your classwork.” 

In his free time, Brevoort enjoys coaching youth soccer and attending concerts and food festivals. Before teaching he worked at the Universal Studios Royal Pacific Resort as a Kitchen Supervisor. Brevoort chose to teach because his step-mom and aunt are both retired teachers so he was ready to follow that career path once he found out that high schools had culinary programs.
