Kayla Gunn is a softball player here at Winter Springs High School. This would be her second year playing. Kayla’s first year playing was with Lyman High School; she made the decision to transfer to Winter Springs because she felt they had a better Athletic Program for softball. Gunn has a variety of other hobbies that keep her busy such as, training for softball and soccer. She enjoys going to the beach, tanning, fishing, and of course when she can squeeze it in, sleeping. This year was quite a different year for everyone alike, not just in the world we live in, but our school life as well. Gunn shared her feelings about coming back to school amid Covid-19. She said, “I feel everything has changed; emotions run on a different spectrum.” She continued to say that “while being in quarantine, you come to find a sense of self, and a sense of the real friends around you.” Gunn expressed that actually seeing the absence of other friends at school, the social distancing, and strict health protocols in place, makes it that much more real. With COVID, Gunn said, “Not only has it changed the world in many ways, but also has changed people, too.”
