Reporter shares her pick of restaurants during quarantine
May 17, 2020
One thing that has been able to stay open during Florida’s stay-at-home order are restaurants. Restaurants have been staying busy with people doing takeout or delivery to follow the CDC guidelines that are given regarding social distancing. Local businesses in Winter Springs have been taking part to still get business during this time and some are even collecting non-perishable foods to go to local pantries.
Dominick’s, a restaurant located on Winter Springs Blvd, has been contributing meals to children under 18 around the community to give hot fresh meals. Last week the restaurant served about a thousand meals to the community in two days with the help of multiple volunteers around the community. The hot meals consisted of spaghetti and meatballs and more.
Other restaurants that have really been hustling are pizza companies around the community. Winter Springs has many local pizzerias with different ranging prices for those who may want to keep their spending in check since some families may not be getting paid like the family usually would. Some pizza places that the community can go to get take-out or delivery are Marco’s Pizza on 434, Tomisino’s Pizza on Red Bug Lake Rd, Victoro’s II by Dollar General and across from Bruster’s Ice Cream on 434, and Napoli’s located on 434 by Family General.
Pho Au Lac is located in the Winter Springs Town Center, a very central place. They are helping families by holding a toy and food donation bin to allow for families not able to buy groceries.
Some other restaurants that are helping the community out are Rock & Brews, Café Panuzzo’s, Stefano’s Trattoria, Destiny’s Big City Pizza, Huey Magoos, Tijuana Flats, Senor Tequila, Red Eye Sports Tavern, Hokkaido, Thai Basil, Sonny’s, Island Fin Poke Co, Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream, and The Townhouse Restaurant.
There are many other restaurants that aren’t listed above, and if you are unable to go out, you can download many apps that allow you to order food and get someone else to deliver it to your house without going out. Some of those food delivering services consist of Ubereats, Grubhub, and Doordash.
If families are able to help out with local restaurants once a week or every other week, that would be great because a lot of them are not getting their local business from the community like restaurants usually do.
