The festive season has finally begun and people are spreading cheer through wishes of “happy holidays!” The Town Center by the school has gotten into the festive mood as well by every year they host a parade and tree lighting.

This year’s was held on December 3rd from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The parade had floats and cars, and at the end of the parade, they have Santa Claus riding in a fire truck. Also, the attendees have a couple hours where they can roam the Town Center and go to different booths set up that sell food, offer crafts, or advertise for a business. Close to the end of the night, they light the tree and have Santa come back on the firetruck. He sits down in a throne-like chair and asks kids what they want for Christmas.

The people who hosted the event had dancers perform from Alternative Dancing Company. They danced choreographed routines to various Christmas songs and received positive reviews from the crowd gathered around them. Last year, along with dancers from ADC, they had older women from a nursing home dance to Christmas music.

Whether someone goes to this event alone or with friends, they’ll be sure to have fun and enjoy the parade, crafts, food, and festivities. One of the competitions this year was “Guess the Christmas song.” The song was “Up On A Housetop” cover by the Jackson 5. A child from Indian Trails Middle School guessed correctly and won the prize.

This event has been ongoing for many years and . The Town Center always goes all out for this event. At the wine store, Spill, they hire live musicians and they play there all night. Also, Winter Springs has a stage set up where people from schools sing, companies advertise, and prizes for different contests are won. This event provides a way for the Winter Springs community to get together and rejoice in the season of giving and love.
