It’s just about that time of the year! Fall sports are over, and winter sports are just beginning. Winter Springs has many different sports to offer during the winter season including basketball, soccer, wrestling, weightlifting, and boys volleyball

Many students are looking forward to the upcoming season of basketball.

“I am ready to show that the team is better with more skilled players this year,” said junior Johnny Holie.

Basketball tryouts will be Monday October 31st.

“This season will be fun considering new talent,” said junior Molly Lowman.

Volleyball is also a winter sport, and the team is going to be better this year according to some students.

Star player junior Chris Jarrett said “ I am so hyped for this season new players are getting added to the team which means new talent and a fresh start to the winter season.”

Boys and girls soccer are a popular sport  here at Winter Springs. Some freshmen have been added to the varsity list this year. Varsity is usually strict on who they want to play on their team, so having freshman Valerie Mackenzie on the team is very impressive.

“I wasn’t expecting to make the varsity team considering this is my first year here, but I’ve played soccer my whole life and I also play for Orlando city. Everyone is super good and I am excited to begin this season,”said freshman Valerie Mackenzie.

Wrestling is another sport available to play during the winter time. The pictures of wrestling champions are located on the gym walls.

In addition, girls’ weightlifting is also a sport that can build your muscle and help you live a better and healthier life.
